It's been four months since my last post, so this time I have decided to do it in english. Don't ask me why, I'm just in the mood. Before I start with the actual post, let me ask you your opinion about thinking in other languages. When you start speaking in other languages the way you form sentences and the way you choose words is different from your mother thongue. So it's like you're a new person. May that be the reason why portuguese people are so more efficient when they work abroad? Not sure.. Well, something for you to think about.
And now, the post.
We live in a plastic molded world. We have the need - we always had but ok, now we have more - to show others what we are and what we stand for. The world has provided us all the tools we need to show others what we are. Doesnt matter if you're showing what you really are or not. That's not the issue. My personal opinion is that almost everyone will never in their regular lifetime show to others what they really are. They'll show a part of what they are. And this is because, during all our lives we change. And yes, change is a very powerful concept (even before Barack Obama's election). We change. Period. And that's not only during childhood and teenagehood. As adults, we experience a lot of things as well. A new job, a new girlfriend, a new bar, a new music, a new car, a new city, even a new sexual orientation if you want to. So it's kind of impossible not to change. Now that we have accepted change as a vital issue, like I was saying, you'll never show what you really are because you change. And most of the time, you will only notice that you have changed in a period of time that is usually far from the moment you have really changed. Well, it's not like a clock alarm that in a pre determined time says: "Hey, You changed!" Doesnt work like that and you know it.
Now you're wondering where this text will lead, but I'm afraid I dont have an answer for you, because I have no idea how to finish this sort of dazzling mind puzzle. Maybe I'm changing and I havent noticed. Who knows?
Anyways, bottomline is: first, show others what you are or what you want people think you are. It doesnt matter to be real, or unreal. See it this way: by showing people something you're not, you are probably being yourself. One of your carachteristics may be hiding others what you are. What's the problem? Second, think more about change. It occurs more often than you think and it doesnt have to be related with some major event, like traveling to other country or get married (as you can see by the number of divorces we have, many people don't change just because they got married).
You are what you are. Like it or not, it's your call.
Take care.
